The first council meeting by the Emmanuel Oriazuwa esq lead executive held on Saturday, 25th January, 2025; at the Senate Chambers of the University of Benin, Ugbowo Campus.

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT
⦁ Upgrading the infrastructure in the University and sustaining the ambiance and planting of more trees to make the University more environmentally friendly;
the urgent rehabilitation of critical road networks, including
⦁ Benin/Warri Road;
⦁ Benin/Asaba Road; and

THE END OF THE 100TH COUNCIL MEETING
⦁ Council extends her heartfelt congratulations to Professor Edoba B. Omoregie SAN, a distinguished alumnus of the University of Benin, on his appointment as Vice Chancellor. Council commends the University of Benin Governing Council for recognising a Peaceful University environment by working in harmony and showing respect to the various staff unions and students’ union bodies. Working hand-in-hand with the alumni body, aimed at advancing the development and efficient management of the University.

⦁ The Council also urges the President to pay university workers their outstanding arrears and dues to avoid the shutdown of tertiary institutions.
⦁ Council acknowledges the efforts of Senator Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State, in addressing insecurity alumnus as deserving of this esteemed office.
The UBAA assures the Vice Chancellor of its full support of his 5-point agenda to wit:
⦁ To sustain and improve on the academic excellence, the University has been known for and to make the University a thriving hub for postgraduate training;

⦁ A training hub for vocational studies for short and certificate courses

⦁ Welfare of students/staff with the provision of up-to- date facilities, training, and promotions backed with relevant payments

⦁ Council acknowledges and commends President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his leadership in revamping refineries in the country. The Council looks forward to all the refineries working fully and the prices of petroleum and allied products being reviewed downwards.

⦁ Council commends the Honourable Minister of Works, His Excellency, Engr. Senator David Nweze Umahi, CON in steps being taken at repairs and maintenance of federal roads. However, the Council urges the Federal Government to prioritise within the State.
